The Lake House in Udaipur, Rajasthan, designed by Matra Architects under the leadership of principal architect Verendra Wakhloo, is a masterful blend of modernity and traditional Rajasthani architecture. This project, executed with precision and innovation, showcases Mixx Windows’ excellence in integrating advanced Metra Building Systems products such as NC 65 HES and NC-S 150 HES.

The Lake House reinterprets the M?ru-Gurjara style, drawing inspiration from Rajput-Mughal architectural elements like chhatris and baradaris. Positioned nine metres above the road near Fateh Sagar Lake, the residence harmonises with Udaipur’s historical skyline while embracing contemporary aesthetics. Designed for a multi-generational family, it spans 12,000 square feet across three interconnected blocks. Each block is thoughtfully oriented to maximise views of the lake and Aravalli ranges while ensuring seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Nestled amidst Udaipur’s rich heritage, the house complements its surroundings with precast textured white concrete façades that echo the marble pinnacles of nearby temples and palaces. The design respects local ecology and climate through features like verandahs that reduce summer glare while capturing winter sunlight. Indigenous landscaping further enhances the connection between the garden and the lake.

The project stands out for its innovative material use. Precast concrete was chosen over traditional stone masonry for its efficiency and elegance, blending modern construction techniques with timeless design principles. Mixx Windows contributed to this innovation by installing high-performance fenestration systems that ensure optimal natural light and ventilation while framing breathtaking views. The NC 65 HES and NC-S 150 HES systems provide thermal insulation and durability, aligning with sustainable goals.
